The Board of Control for Cricket in India is planning to prohibit all types of tobacco, alcohol, and cryptocurrency sponsorships, including indirect ads, during IPL 2025. The tournament kicks off on March 22, featuring the defending champions, Kolkata Knight Riders, facing off against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

This issue will be officially addressed at the Apex Council meeting scheduled for the same day as the IPL 2025 opener in Kolkata, right before the KKR vs RCB match. This decision follows a recent directive from the health ministry urging the BCCI to eliminate all tobacco and alcohol promotions, including surrogate ads, during the IPL.

"Discussion on sponsorship from tobacco and crypto brands" is listed as item No. 9 on the agenda.

BCCI is set to create an organizing committee for the Women's ODI World Cup

The BCCI is set to decide on the locations for the upcoming ICC event and will create a committee to organize the Women's World Cup. The last time India hosted a Women's ODI World Cup was in 2013, and the specific schedule for the tournament planned for October is still in the works.

As per the agenda obtained by PTI, there will be talks about establishing a Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 and discussions on the venues for the same event.

India has reached the finals of the 50-over tournament twice but hasn't clinched the title yet. Harmanpreet Kaur's squad is determined to break the long wait for an ICC trophy on home soil.

The Apex Council will also finalize plans for the domestic season in 2025-26.

During the home season, India is set to host West Indies and South Africa, so the members will likely choose the venues for those Test series.

With a new team of office-bearers now in place, they will also approve changes to the signatories for the BCCI's bank accounts.
