‘BCCI Let Discipline Slip’: Ian Healy Cautions Australia to Stay on Track

The 10-point non-cricket guidelines introduced by the BCCI have prompted reflection from Ian Healy, the esteemed former Australian wicketkeeper-batter. Healy characterized these measures as "the reshaping of Indian cricket," acknowledging the BCCI's recognition of a significant decline in discipline within their national team. This initiative emerged in response to reports of unrest within the dressing room following India's 1-3 defeat to Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

In light of India's disappointing performance, where the top batters struggled in the last eight Tests—resulting in six losses against New Zealand and Australia—the BCCI has mandated that all Indian cricketers participate in domestic cricket and remain present for the entirety of scheduled practice sessions, as well as travel collectively to and from match venues.

Additionally, the new policy imposes limitations on the time players can spend with their families while on tour.

Healy remarked on SEN Radio on Tuesday, "This represents a strict and robust response from Indian cricket authorities, essentially acknowledging that they have allowed discipline within their national team to deteriorate significantly."
