Sanju Samson experienced a challenging day at work on Wednesday. His team, the Rajasthan Royals, suffered a defeat by 58 runs against the Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, marking their third loss of the season. Additionally, Samson faced disciplinary action from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for violating the IPL code of conduct during the match.

As the captain of the Rajasthan Royals, Samson was fined due to his team's slow over-rate in the game. This incident constituted the team's second violation of Article 2.22 of the IPL's Code of Conduct, which addresses minimum over-rate offenses. The Rajasthan Royals had previously been penalized for a similar infraction during their match against the Chennai Super Kings last month at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati, where stand-in captain Riyan Parag was fined INR 12 lakhs.

On Wednesday, the BCCI imposed a significant fine of INR 24 lakhs on Samson. According to an IPL media release, "The remaining members of the Playing XI, including the Impact Player, will incur a fine of either INR six lakhs or 25 percent of their respective match fees, whichever amount is lower."

Sai Sudharsan's remarkable fifty and disciplined bowling led the Gujarat Titans to a decisive 58-run victory over the Rajasthan Royals. He shone brightly with an impressive 82 runs off 53 balls, while significant contributions from Jos Buttler (36), Shahrukh Khan (36), and Rahul Tewatia (24) helped GT amass a strong total of 217/6.

The bowlers maintained consistent pressure, taking wickets at regular intervals and keeping Rajasthan on the defensive, despite resilient performances from Shimron Hetmyer (52) and captain Sanju Samson (41). Ultimately, the visitors were dismissed for 159 in 19.1 overs.

Rajasthan will head back home to face the Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Sunday in Jaipur, while the Gujarat Titans will make their way to the Ekana Stadium for a match against the Lucknow Super Giants.
