The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has issued a warning to all stakeholders involved in the Indian Premier League (IPL), including owners, players, coaches, support staff, and commentators, regarding a potentially fraudulent businessman from Hyderabad. This individual is reportedly making efforts to entice IPL participants into corrupt practices.

As reported by Cricbuzz, the Anti-Corruption Security Unit (ACSU) has identified a businessman from Hyderabad with connections to gamblers and bookmakers, who has a history of engaging in corrupt activities. The ACSU has advised all IPL teams to remain vigilant and report any interactions with this individual, as well as disclose any potential connections.

Furthermore, the ACSU has alerted IPL teams about the suspect's tactics, which involve posing as a fan to target unsuspecting individuals with lavish gifts. The report indicates that this person has been seen at team hotels and matches, attempting to befriend players and staff while inviting them to private gatherings. There are also reports of him offering gifts to not only team members but also their families.

Additionally, he has been known to approach the family members of IPL participants, presenting himself as a fan while offering access to jewellery stores and hotels. The report also suggests that he may have tried to reach out to relatives living abroad, often utilising social media platforms for contact.

In contrast, the Chennai Super Kings, who have won the championship five times, find themselves at the bottom of the standings with only two wins out of seven matches. Additionally, the Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals, and Sunrisers Hyderabad have each garnered four points, although they still have one match remaining to play.
