Ishant Sharma faced a challenging beginning to his season with the Gujarat Titans in the ongoing IPL 2025. In his first three matches, he has yet to take a wicket, conceding a total of 97 runs. Notably, he allowed 53 runs during the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Compounding his difficulties, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) imposed strict penalties on the experienced Indian pacer for violating the IPL code of conduct during the game against SRH.

Ishant was fined 25 percent of his match fees and received one demerit point for this infraction.

"Ishant acknowledged the Level 1 offense under Article 2.2 and accepted the sanction imposed by the Match Referee. The Match Referee's decision is final and binding for Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct," stated the IPL media release.

Article 2.2 of the BCCI’s Code of Conduct for Players and Team Officials addresses the “Abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment, or fixtures and fittings during a Match."

This article encompasses any actions outside the normal conduct of cricket, such as striking or kicking the wickets, as well as any deliberate, reckless, or negligent actions that result in damage to advertising boards, boundary fences, dressing room doors, mirrors, windows, and other fixtures. For instance, a player may commit this offense by swinging their bat in frustration and inadvertently damaging an advertising board.

Gujarat  Achieving a hat-trick of victories on Sunday, the Gujarat Titans were propelled by an outstanding performance from Mohammed Siraj in Hyderabad. The fast bowler delivered an impressive 4 for 17, leading his team to a seven-wicket triumph over the Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Siraj, who hails from Hyderabad, has maintained his excellent bowling form throughout this season's T20 tournament, claiming nine wickets across four matches and restricting the home team to a score of 152-8.

Captain Shubman Gill played a pivotal role, scoring an unbeaten 61 as the 2022 champions successfully chased down the target with 20 balls remaining and seven wickets in hand, marking their third win in four matches.
