Team India's involvement in the pre-tournament activities for the upcoming Champions Trophy is still up in the air. There's ongoing chatter about whether captain Rohit Sharma will head to Pakistan for official media events. The tournament kicks off on February 19, and India will be playing their matches in Dubai, citing security issues as the reason for not traveling to Pakistan.

BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia mentioned, "It's still undecided whether Rohit Sharma will go to Pakistan for the ICC media events," addressing the buzz around the captain's role in the pre-tournament press conferences and photo ops.

The BCCI is still weighing this decision, especially since the team hasn't been to Pakistan for any cricket matches since 2008. The ongoing security concerns continue to impact India's participation in events held in Pakistan, including this year's Champions Trophy.

BCCI comments on Pakistan's name appearing on the jersey

Saikia also tackled the buzz around the BCCI being against Pakistan's name on the official jersey for the Champions Trophy, alongside the uncertainty about media interactions.

The BCCI secretary made it clear that India will stick to the dress code set by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for the tournament.

"BCCI will comply with all ICC uniform rules during the Champions Trophy," Saikia told PTI, putting an end to any doubts about India's stance on the logo that includes Pakistan’s name.

"We're going to follow whatever the other teams do regarding the logo and dress code, in both letter and spirit," he added.

This statement emphasizes that India is committed to adhering to ICC guidelines, just like in past global tournaments. The ICC mandates that all teams submit their playing and training kits for approval, ensuring consistency throughout the event. As part of this, the logos and names on the kits of all teams must be cleared by the ICC.

In the past, teams have followed similar dress codes. For instance, during the 2017 Champions Trophy, the kits displayed England and Wales, and the current ICC Women's U19 T20 World Cup in Malaysia showcases the host nation's name on the official logo.
