India and Pakistan last met each other in a bilateral series during the 2012-13 season, when the latter visited the former. India most recently traveled to Pakistan in 2008 for the Asia Cup. In addition, they have not toured Pakistan for a bilateral series since the 2005-06 season.

Following the tragic Pahalgam terrorist attack in Kashmir, which resulted in the deaths of over 26 Indians, BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla shared his stance on India competing against Pakistan in bilateral cricket.

“We will not play with Pakistan in bilaterals going forward,” he stated, to Sports Tak.

“We stand with the victims and condemn this act. We will follow whatever our government decides. We don’t compete with Pakistan in bilateral series due to the government's position. And we will not play with Pakistan in bilaterals going forward. However, in ICC events, we participate due to ICC engagement. ICC is also aware of whatever is happening; they will address it. ”

Meanwhile, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia expressed similar views, stating, “The cricketing community is profoundly shocked and distressed by the tragic loss of innocent lives in the horrific terror attack at Pahalgam yesterday. On behalf of the BCCI, while strongly condemning this heinous and cowardly act, I extend our sincere condolences to the grieving families and prayers for the lost souls. In sharing their sorrow and grief, we stand united during this time of tragedy. ”

Recently, the BCCI implemented measures to honor the individuals who lost their lives during the Mumbai terror attack in the IPL 2025 match between SRH and MI on Wednesday. The stadium observed a moment of silence, and the players wore black armbands.

Reports indicate that the Pahalgam attack involved at least five terrorists opening fire on tourists in Baisaran Valley on Tuesday. Additionally, it is reported that three of them were from Pakistan.
