Jasprit Bumrah engaged with the Indian players, sharing a light-hearted exchange with several of them prior to the highly anticipated match against Pakistan in the Champions Trophy 2025. Although Bumrah has been unable to participate in this prestigious ICC event, he attended the match at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium to witness the significant encounter and to receive his ICC accolades, which included the Men's Cricketer of the Year and Men's Test Cricketer of the Year awards, prior to the commencement of the game.
On Sunday, Bumrah interacted with his Indian teammates during their warm-up exercises ahead of the match against Pakistan. Virat Kohli warmly embraced the prominent fast bowler and inquired about his back injury. The two continued their conversation, discussing the sweltering conditions in Dubai.
Kohli remarked, "It’s hotter today; there was a breeze last time, but there isn’t any today."
Bumrah also caught up with Mohammed Shami, with whom he had a remarkable partnership during the 2023 ODI World Cup. Meanwhile, Axar Patel enjoyed a cheerful interaction with the injured bowler, playfully suggesting that he should engage in some 'warm-up' activities.
He subsequently encountered Hardik Pandya, Washington Sundar, and Harshit Rana, extending his best wishes for the upcoming major match.
Bumrah, recognized as the ICC Cricketer of the Year 2024, emerged as the top wicket-taker in international cricket last year, claiming 86 wickets across 21 matches at an impressive average of 13.76. His performance included four instances of four-wicket hauls and five instances of five-wicket hauls, with his best bowling figures being 6/45. Notably, in Test matches, the Indian pace leader experienced one of the most remarkable calendar years for a bowler, securing 71 wickets in 13 matches at an average of 14.92.
India bowl out Pakistan for 241
In the intense encounter on Sunday, the Indian bowlers asserted their dominance over their Pakistani counterparts, dismissing them for a modest total of 241 runs.
Kuldeep Yadav emerged as the standout bowler for India, taking three wickets, while Hardik Pandya played a pivotal role by claiming the important wickets of Babar Azam and Saud Shakeel.
Pakistan faced difficulties after choosing to bat first. Although they found some stability with Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Rizwan after losing their opening batsmen early, their scoring rate remained subpar throughout the innings. Shakeel scored a commendable 62 runs off 76 balls, hitting five boundaries, and formed a significant partnership of 104 runs for the third wicket with captain Rizwan, who contributed 46 runs. However, Pakistan was unable to break free from the constraints imposed by the Indian bowlers after their decision to bat first.
