India, Aug. 30 -- Avani Lekhara created history on Thursday as she clinched a historic gold medal at the women's 10m air rifle standing SH1 in the Paris Paralympics, thus securing successive top podiums at the event. Three years ago, in the Tokyo Paralympics, Lekhara broke the Paralympic record, scoring 249.6. In Paris, she surpassed her own score, ending with 249.7 to create history.Lekhara also opened India's account in the 2024 Paralympics. It was a double delight for India as Mona Agarwal, Avani's fellow Indian competitor at the event, also clinched a bronze medal.
