The win set up a highly anticipated quarter-final clash with his arch-rival, Carlos Alcaraz. This marks Djokovic's 15th quarter-final appearance at the Australian Open, a feat that ties him with Swiss legend Roger Federer and puts him one ahead of Rafael Nadal and John Newcombe in the tournament's history.

In addition to Jiri Lehecka’s spirited attempt to stage a comeback in the third set, Novak Djokovic had to contend with a challenging crowd at the Rod Laver Arena. Some spectators attempted to distract him during key moments, particularly as he prepared to serve. This led to chair umpire Mohamed Lahyani stepping in to address the unruly behaviour, calling for respect toward both players.

“Please show your support but don’t disturb the players, please, for both players,” Lahyani urged, ensuring the match could continue smoothly.

Djokovic’s quarter-final clash with Carlos Alcaraz promises to be an electrifying encounter. The Serbian star, who defeated Alcaraz in the men’s singles final at the 2024 Paris Olympics, will likely face a similarly intense atmosphere. Alcaraz, reflecting on the upcoming match, acknowledged Djokovic’s impressive form.

In discussing his mindset for the upcoming quarter-final match, Alcaraz expressed, "I plan to approach this match just as I did with my previous encounters against him. Watching him play lately, he seems to have regained his youth, which is truly remarkable. He is in excellent condition, and I feel prepared; I understand what I need to do in the quarter-finals."

This will mark their first meeting at the Australian Open. While Djokovic leads their head-to-head record, Alcaraz has prevailed in two Wimbledon finals, showcasing the potential for another thrilling chapter in their rivalry.
