India, Jan. 8 -- The Australian Open has revealed the seedings for the men's and women's singles tournaments just ahead of Thursday's draw. As the first grand slam of the year kicks off, players are expected to be in top shape after the off-season, and with plenty of ranking points up for grabs, there’s bound to be some shake-ups.
Jannik Sinner, the defending champion from 2024, is the top seed on the men's side after an incredible season where he often seemed unbeatable. Can he maintain that momentum this year?
Alexander Zverev comes in as the second seed, eager to snag his first grand slam title. Carlos Alcaraz, sitting at number three, has a chance to become the youngest player to achieve a career grand slam, with the Australian Open being the only title he still needs.
Taylor Fritz, who finished the 2024 season strong, rounds out the top four. Meanwhile, Novak Djokovic is positioned at number seven, which could pose a challenge for the top seeds, and local favorite Alex de Minaur is viewed as a potential dark horse from the eighth spot.
Another Aussie, Alexei Popyrin, who famously defeated Djokovic at the US Open, is also in the mix, coming in at number 25.
