Motorsports enthusiasts were in for a wild ride in Melbourne as Lando Norris fought fiercely to turn his pole position into a win at the season-opening Australian Grand Prix. The weather was unpredictable, with a late downpour, several crashes, and the presence of Safety Cars adding to the excitement.

Unfortunately, Isack Hadjar, Jack Doohan, Carlos Sainz, Fernando Alonso, Gabriel Bortoleto, and Liam Lawson didn’t finish the race due to various crashes.

The race kicked off in complete chaos, with Hadjar, Doohan, and Sainz all crashing out before they even completed the first lap. The formation lap was already shaky, as rain had limited practice for the support categories, leaving only F3 to actually complete some racing laps.

F1, Australian GP: Complete rundown of accidents

Isack Hadjar's accident causes a postponed start

Hadjar was trailing the group as they entered Turn 1 from his 11th position on the grid, but then he unexpectedly accelerated in Turn 2, lost control, and crashed into the barriers. This resulted in significant damage to his rear wing, forcing him to retire from the race. Unfortunately, his day was over before the Grand Prix even kicked off, which also led to a delay in the start.

Jack Doohan crashes into the barriers

The Safety Car came out just after the first lap because Doohan was involved. He crashed into the barriers on the way to Turn 6, causing his rear tires to spin when he shifted gears.

Carlos Sainz is now part of the crash crew

Sainz then joined the unfortunate crash crew, losing control of his Williams at the last corner and slamming into the wall.

It's Fernando Alonso's moment

Fernando Alonso became the second experienced driver to face trouble when his Aston Martin lost grip. He went off track onto the slippery curb at Turn 6, causing the back of his car to spin into the barriers. This mishap resulted in the deployment of a second safety car.

Gabriel Bortoleto's struggles with his rear suspension

Bortoleto became the fifth driver to exit the race after losing control at Turn 13. His Sauber spun out and ended up crashing into the wall.

Liam Lawson loses his grip

Red Bull's driver Lawson, however, lost grip on his car at Turn 1 when a sudden rainstorm hit.
