Considered one of the top all-rounders in contemporary cricket, Ravindra Jadeja's talents extend beyond just batting and bowling; he’s also an exceptional fielder. It's quite uncommon for the ball to get past the 36-year-old, and he has never dropped a catch. (GT vs DC, IPL 2025 Live Score)
In an interview with Star Sports, GT coach Ashish Nehra was asked to name his favorite fielder in cricket history, and without hesitation, he chose Jadeja. “Ravindra Jadeja,” he stated.
The interviewer, taken aback, probed further, “What about then and now?”
Nehra responded, “I’ve seen many great fielders; some excel in the outfield, while others shine inside, like Jonty Rhodes, who is the best in the circle. For all-around fielding, you might mention AB de Villiers, along with Andrew Symonds and Jadeja, but I’d rank Jadeja above them. It’s not just about his age. Since he debuted in 2008-09, he’s maintained the same level. His fitness is remarkable; I’m not sure what he eats, but if it’s something special, he should share it with us,” Nehra elaborated.
Ravindra Jadeja, the King
Jadeja has made history as the fifth Indian and the fifth-fastest player to achieve 2000 runs and 200 wickets in Test cricket, accomplishing this feat in 2021. He was a key member of India’s squad that clinched the Champions Trophy in 2013, where he emerged as the top wicket-taker. Additionally, he contributed to the team’s victories in the 2024 T20 World Cup and the 2025 Champions Trophy.
Right now, he’s playing in IPL 2025 with CSK, who are struggling this season, sitting at the bottom of the table with just four points from seven matches, having secured two wins and suffered five losses. On top of that, Ruturaj Gaikwad is out for the rest of the season due to an injury, while MS Dhoni continues to lead the team as captain.
CSK managed to snap their five-match losing streak on Monday by defeating LSG by five wickets. They’re hoping to keep the momentum going as they face MI on Sunday.
