India, Feb. 20 --Anthony Joshua, the prominent British heavyweight boxing champion, recently took a break in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where he was spotted enjoying a game of chess in the sunshine. Although he has stepped away from the boxing ring, the former world champion appeared to be in excellent physical condition as he prepares for what may be his next significant fight.
At 35 years old, Joshua has been relishing the warm climate of the Middle East, a notable contrast to the dreary winter weather in Britain. This respite comes amid ongoing speculation regarding his potential return to the ring, with fans eagerly anticipating updates about his next opponent.
Despite not having fought since his knockout defeat to Daniel Dubois last September, his supporters remain optimistic about his future in the sport. The Sun reported that fans inundated his social media accounts with encouraging messages following the release of his recent photos, with remarks such as "Unstoppable, humble warrior" and "Bro, they're not ready." Others affectionately referred to him as "My champ" and "Undisputed..."
Even during his hiatus from competition, Joshua's commitment to training is apparent. His well-defined physique and disciplined regimen indicate that he is prepared for the next opportunity to fight.
For years, boxing enthusiasts have been eager to witness a match between Joshua and Tyson Fury, which would be one of the most significant bouts in heavyweight boxing history. However, plans for this anticipated clash were cast into uncertainty when Fury announced his retirement in January. Given Fury's history of retiring and returning to the sport, speculation continues regarding his potential comeback.
In the interim, Joshua's team is exploring other fight opportunities. Promoter Eddie Hearn has suggested that Joshua may face the winner of the upcoming Daniel Dubois versus Joseph Parker match. In a conversation with iFL TV, Hearn stated, "Without Tyson Fury, AJ's number one priority is to fight for the world heavyweight title. If that's not Usyk, it's likely the winner of Dubois vs. Parker."
Currently in Saudi Arabia to observe the Dubois-Parker fight in person, Joshua has alternative options should a title shot not materialize. Hearn mentioned potential other matchups.
