Anirban Lahiri is looking to bounce back after a challenging 2024 season.

New Delhi: Anirban Lahiri is known for establishing his own benchmarks. Consequently, despite achieving four top-10 finishes on the LIV tour in 2024 and successfully retaining his card for the upcoming season, the Indian golfer finds himself neither content nor fulfilled.
“This season has been disappointing for me. I hold myself to high standards and evaluate my performance based on consistency. I do not believe I achieved any of my objectives last year,” he remarked.
Among Lahiri's aspirations were securing his first victory on the LIV tour and qualifying for the Majors, both of which eluded him narrowly.
Lahiri missed the opportunity to compete at The Open after being eliminated in a three-way playoff against Mexico’s Abraham Ancer and Sweden’s Charlie Lindh. Additionally, he faced disappointment at LIV Golf Andalucia, where he astonishingly missed a two-foot par putt on the final hole. In the subsequent playoff, both Lahiri and 2017 Masters champion Sergio Garcia made par on the first hole, but Garcia ultimately triumphed with a par on the second playoff hole.
“It has been both heartbreaking and frustrating at times. I believe 2024 was filled with unfortunate memories, yet I do not think my golf was poor. There were numerous instances where I failed to capitalize,” he stated.
To regain his form, Lahiri arrived in Ahmedabad approximately ten days ago to train with his long-time coach, Vijay Divecha. He has also engaged in sessions with his Israel-Romanian performance coach, Nimrod Brockman, to enhance the mental aspect of his game. Lahiri is optimistic that these efforts will bear fruit when he competes in the International Series, which will debut in India next week.
With over 15 LIV tour stars and numerous prominent Indian players set to participate, Lahiri hopes that the familiarity of the event will yield positive results. However, he acknowledges the challenges ahead, as he must not only focus on his swing but also serve as a host to his golfing friends, managing logistical arrangements and organizing cultural experiences for notable players such as Bryson DeChambeau and Joaquin Niemann.
“It’s not a vacation,” he emphasizes, “but golfers from around the world are eager to visit India. Until now, India has merely been perceived as an exotic destination.”
