In the video, Nodirbek conveys a message to his fans, expressing his apologies to Vaishali Rameshbabu. However, it is noteworthy that neither Nodirbek nor ChessBase India mentions that the Uzbek Grandmaster had previously fist-bumped Divya during a pairing at Wijk aan Zee.

ECB to retain control of the tournament

The ECB is managing the broader sales initiative, with the remaining six franchises expected to be announced in the upcoming days. A representative from the governing body confirmed to BBC that the ECB will maintain overall authority over The Hundred while seeking to raise funds to enhance the domestic cricket scene.

"The opportunity to invest in English cricket was always likely to attract IPL franchises. The Mumbai Indians, owned by the renowned Ambani family, are arguably the most prestigious of all. It is not surprising that the Reliance group has pursued one of the two London Hundred teams, which are regarded as the most profitable," an industry expert informed BBC.

The ECB intends to complete all eight sales by next week, with the revenue allocated to first-class counties and grassroots cricket.
