Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah arrived at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru on Sunday for a medical evaluation conducted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) medical team. Bumrah sustained a back injury during the Sydney Test against Australia last month, which led to his absence from the T20I series against England and his exclusion from the upcoming ODI series against Jos Buttler's team, set to commence later this week in Nagpur.

As reported by the Times of India, Bumrah, who was selected for the Champions Trophy despite his injury, will only participate in the ICC tournament after receiving medical clearance following scans and assessments this week. The report further indicated that the 31-year-old will remain in Bengaluru for several days, with NCA specialists expected to relay their findings to the selection committee led by Ajit Agarkar.

During the announcement of the Champions Trophy squad last month, Agarkar provided limited information regarding the injury but mentioned that the fast bowler had requested to "off-load for five weeks," with the committee planning to make a decision in the first week of February.

"Bumrah has been advised to off-load for five weeks, and he will not be available for the first two ODIs against England. We are awaiting updates on his fitness and expect to receive information from the medical team in early February. We should have a clearer understanding of his condition around that time, and I am sure the BCCI will provide an update from the physio," Agarkar stated.

All teams have submitted their provisional squads for the Champions Trophy, but they must finalize their selections by February 11. Consequently, Agarkar has only eight days to decide on Bumrah's involvement in the ICC tournament. Should Bumrah be unable to participate, reports suggest that Harshit Rana, who has been included in the ODI squad for the series against England, may be considered as his replacement.

India is expected to depart for Dubai on February 15, where they will compete in all matches of the Champions Trophy.
