Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has confirmed his availability for Delhi's forthcoming Ranji Trophy match against Saurashtra in Rajkot. Conversely, right-handed batter Virat Kohli has not provided any information to the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) regarding his participation in the upcoming game.

DDCA secretary Ashok Sharma informed Hindustan Times that Pant will be traveling to Rajkot for the match scheduled on January 23.

“Yes, Rishabh Pant is available, and he will be travelling with the team to Rajkot,” he stated to Hindustan Times.

Rishabh Pant's most recent appearance in the Ranji Trophy was during the final against Vidarbha in December 2017.

Currently, Delhi holds the third position in Elite Group D with a total of 14 points.

When inquired about Virat Kohli, Ashok Sharma remarked, “He hasn’t communicated about his availability to us.”

Virat Kohli's performance during the recent tour of Australia was disappointing, as he accumulated only 190 runs across 9 innings. Although he scored a century in the series opener in Perth, Kohli faced difficulties and was dismissed repeatedly while attempting to play deliveries outside off-stump.

Kohli's last participation in the Ranji Trophy dates back to 2012.

Returning to Pant, it is noteworthy that he was not included in India's T20I squad for the upcoming five-match series against England.

Gill and Jaiswal also available for their teams

Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal are set to represent Punjab and Mumbai, respectively. Mumbai is scheduled to compete against Jammu and Kashmir, while Punjab will face Karnataka.

Recently, Rohit Sharma was observed training alongside the Mumbai team in preparation for the upcoming match against Jammu and Kashmir. However, it remains uncertain whether he will participate in the match in Mumbai.

Previously, the BCCI mandated that all players represent their respective state teams in domestic competitions. Additionally, the board has instructed centrally contracted players to obtain a report from the physiotherapist and secure approval from head coach Gautam Gambhir and chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar if they are unable to attend for any reason.

The defeat in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy has prompted the BCCI to take decisive action, urging players to return to competitive play in domestic cricket.
