Vaughan has placed Abhishek's century among the finest innings ever, ranking it alongside those of the sport's most iconic players—a notably audacious assertion.

Indian cricket has seen numerous extraordinary innings, none more impressive than Virat Kohli's unbeaten 82 against Pakistan in the 2022 T20 World Cup held in Melbourne. Additionally, Kohli had previously scored another 82 runs against Australia in the T20 World Cup semifinal six years earlier. The contributions of players like Suryakumar Yadav, who has four centuries, and Rohit Sharma further enrich this narrative. Nevertheless, Vaughan's endorsement goes to Abhishek.

"An exceptional player. I don't believe anyone could have performed better than that. If there has been a superior T20 innings, I have yet to witness it. That was as refined and stylish as one could ever aspire to achieve," Vaughan remarked during a discussion on Cricbuzz.

"He is a contemporary player in full bloom, possessing immense style, power, and skill. He can adeptly handle both spin and seam bowling. His game awareness is outstanding, and he reads the play exceptionally well."

Abhishek's carnage

Abhishek has shattered records in a remarkable display, illuminating the stadium less than 24 hours ago. The 24-year-old left-handed opener achieved India's second-fastest T20I century, trailing only Rohit Sharma, and set a new benchmark for the highest individual score in the country's T20I history. Additionally, he hit 13 sixes, marking the highest number by an Indian in a single match. As records fell and statistics soared, England found it increasingly difficult to contain Abhishek's explosive performance.

By the conclusion of the match, India had decisively outperformed England, finishing with an imposing total of 247 runs for the loss of 9 wickets. In response, England began strongly but ultimately faltered, being dismissed for just 97 runs, thus conceding the series 1-4. Notably, Vaughan highlighted Abhishek's audacity against the formidable bowling of Jofra Archer as a defining moment of the match.
