As the IPL 2025 season approaches, teams and players are diligently preparing for this highly competitive tournament. While players are focused on honing their skills and securing their positions in the starting lineup, bowlers from Sunrisers Hyderabad have faced a challenging time during practice, particularly under the powerful hitting of Abhishek Sharma.

A video posted on SRH’s social media platforms showcases the Indian opener hitting several impressive sixes, some of which have caused unintended damage, including breaking the glass of a fire extinguisher box.

When asked in the video about what he has broken, Abhishek Sharma replied, “Mostly my bats. But I did hear the sound of glass breaking over there, just ahead of the boundary.”

The clip then features Abhishek executing a classic long-handle drive over long-on, which sailed past the boundary and shattered the glass window. Subsequent images reveal how the tall left-hander successfully broke one of the glass panes.

Abhishek looking for back-to-back monster seasons

Sharma is recognized as one of the most formidable hitters in the IPL, having had an exceptional season in 2024, where his partnership with Travis Head propelled the team to a record-setting run in the IPL final. This campaign included three of the four highest scores in the tournament's history, largely due to Abhishek’s ability to score aggressively from the outset during the powerplay.

Now a key player in the Indian T20I squad with several international centuries to his credit, Abhishek is determined to lead a strong SRH team back to the finals, with the Orange Army being regarded as one of the favorites ahead of the tournament.

In 2024, Abhishek achieved an impressive total of 484 runs at an extraordinary strike rate of 204, surpassed only by Jake Fraser-McGurk in this regard. Notably, Abhishek also hit 42 sixes, making him the first Indian player to reach a minimum of 40 sixes in a single IPL season, thus topping the leaderboard last year.

Sharma and the Sunrisers Hyderabad will kick off their campaign with an afternoon match against the Rajasthan Royals at the Rajiv Gandhi Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad on Sunday.
