Bougainvillea, the Amal Neerad directorial, is slated to hit the theatres in October 2024. The movie stars Kunchacko Boban and Jyothirmayi in the lead roles and Fahadh Faasil in a special appearance in the film. The makers recently dropped the first single from Bougainvillea titled Sthuthi, and the song instantly emerged as a chartbuster. However, the Sthuthi song has now landed in trouble, owing to its lyrics and visuals.

Sthuthi song from Bougainvillea lands in trouble

As per the latest updates, the Syro Malabar Church recently slammed the Sthuthi song from Bougainvillea, alleging that the song portrays Christianity in a bad light. The Church alleged that the lyrics of the song which stars ‘Bhoolokam srishticha Karthavinu sthuthi’ and the visuals in the lyrical video, featuring Kunchacko Boban and Jyothirmayi, mock Christianity and its beliefs. The viral song is composed by popular musician Sushin Shyam, and penned by Vinayak Sasikumar.

Tony Chittilappalli, the Secretary of Syro Malabar Church Almaya, recently lashed out at the makers of Bougainvillea for the negative representation. It is also confirmed that the Church has filed official complaints against the team with the Ministry Of Information and Broadcast, and the Censor Board, citing the same. If the necessary action is not taken immediately, the Syro Malabar Church might also file a lawsuit against team Bougainvillea, soon.

The highly anticipated project marks Kunchacko Boban’s first onscreen collaboration with director Amal Neerad. The talented actor is said to be playing a grey-shaded role in the film. Jyothirmayi, the popular actress and the wife of director Amal, is making a comeback to acting after a long gap, with Bougainvillea. Fahadh Faasil, on the other hand, is all set to play an important character, but will have a lesser screen time.

Sharaf U Dheen, Veena Nandakumar, and Srindaa play the other pivotal roles in the Amal Neerad directorial, Sushin Shyam composes the songs and original score. Anend C Chandran is the director of photography. Vivek Harshan handles the editing. Bougainvillea is jointly produced by Kunchacko Boban and Jyothirmayi under the banners of Udhaya Pictures and Amal Neerad Productions.
