In a little over a month, Niveditha Shivarajkumar, the daughter of renowned actor Shivarajkumar, will unveil her debut feature film production, Firefly, in cinemas. The film, which is both written and directed by Vamshi, who also stars in the lead role, is set to premiere on April 24, 2025. This date holds special significance for the Doddmane family and the entire state, as it coincides with the birth anniversary of the beloved Kannada film icon, Dr. Rajkumar.

To date, audiences have been given limited insight into the film. A teaser has introduced Vamshi’s character, Vivekananda, also known as Vicky, an award-winning mathematics teacher who, despite being surrounded by various individuals—some supportive and others less so—experiences profound loneliness. The film explores the lengths to which he will go to overcome this isolation, as suggested by the teaser.

As part of the promotional campaign, the team is set to release the first single from the film, titled In the Night, featuring Vamshi alongside Rachana Inder, known for her role in Love Mocktail. The complete music video, composed by Charan Raj, will be launched on March 22, 2025. The film boasts a talented ensemble cast, including Achyuth Kumar, Sudharani, Sihi Kahi Chandru, Sheetal Shetty, Anand Ninasam, Veena Sundar, Chitkala Biradar, and Moogu Suresh in key roles.

Shivarajkumar, who makes a cameo appearance as a pizza delivery agent—a detail revealed in the film's theatrical teaser—has stated that Firefly delves into themes of grief and healing, presenting a narrative that is likely to resonate with a wide audience. The film's technical team features notable talents such as cinematographer Abhilash Kalathi, dialogue writer Raghu Niduvalli, editor Suresh Armugam, art director Varadaraj Kamath, action choreographer Arjun Raj, and dance choreographer Rahul Master, among others.

Firefly marks the inaugural feature film produced by Sri Mutthu Cine Services, a company that initially focused on Kannada web series. Niveditha has previously co-produced three series: Honeymoon, By Mistake, and Hate U Romeo, before transitioning into film production. She asserts that her banner will create films that resonate with her personal viewing preferences, whereas Geetha Pictures, managed by her mother, will focus on more commercially appealing projects.
