23 days ago | 5 Views
Ranjani Raghavan, widely recognized for her roles in Kannada television series such as Puttagowri Maduve and Kannadathi, has ventured into directing after occasionally participating in film acting. The film's title was announced in celebration of actor Nenapirali Prem's birthday, who stars in the lead role alongside Vihaan, the son of Golden Star Ganesh. Titled Di Di Dikki, the film is presently in production, with Jadesha K Hampi, known for directing Gentleman and writing Kaatera, taking on the role of producer.

As a first-time director, Ranjani recognized the necessity of having a seasoned filmmaker to provide guidance and enhance the film's visibility and impact. Tharun Sudhir and Jadesha were enthusiastic about Ranjani's narrative and joined the project as the creative director and producer, respectively. Ranjani describes the film as an emotional drama infused with a significant amount of humor.
Ranjani Raghavan on getting the cast of Di Di Dikki together
Ranjani explains that as she progressed in writing the film, she could only picture Nenapirali Prem as the lead character, while the role for the child actor was initially open for auditions. The actress and filmmaker notes that during the casting process, she encountered several young talents who seemed overly polished and did not embody the natural demeanor expected of a 9-year-old. Subsequently, when informed that Ganesh's son was of a similar age, she approached the Golden Star, who was initially hesitant to allow Vihaan to pursue acting, favoring his focus on academics instead.

After persistent follow-ups from the film team, Ganesh ultimately approved the project. Vihaan noted that Ranjani proved to be the perfect choice for the role. At the title launch, Prem, known for his work in Charminar, disclosed that he was initially reluctant to participate in the film, as he sought a project that was innovative rather than another family drama or romantic film. However, upon Tharun's insistence to hear the story before making a decision, his perspective shifted dramatically.
