The buzz around Rebel Moon has been massive ever since it was announced. It marked the return of Zack Snyder after the entire DCU fiasco, and this was him making a movie that was his brainchild completely. There was immense anticipation to see what he was cooking up in what was being touted as the most expensive Netflix project of all time. The story was set in a place far from us and beyond our imaginations, so the curiosity to know what it holds for the audience and the fans of the filmmaker was at an all-time high. 

However, Part One opened to a very mixed response, but the audience was still hopeful and wanted to wait for Part Two: Scargiver to judge the project fully. But it turns out that while the movie has topped the Netflix charts of top-viewed movies, it is also performing very underwhelmingly on Rotten Tomatoes. Rebel Moon - Part Two: The Scargiver Tops Netflix List

Rebel Moon 2 was released on Netflix on April 19, 2024, following Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child Of Fire which was released on December 15, 2023. The anticipation led fans and the audience to turn to the platform in massive numbers, which led to the count of views and streams increasing in no time. But the count increased to a level where Rebel Moon 2 became the most-watched IP on Netflix last weekend, as it is currently topping Netflix’s Top 10 Movies List.

Zack Snyder's Rebel Moon - Part Two: The Scargiver left behind Anna, What Jennifer Did, Woody Woodpecker Goes To The Camp, and The Bricklayer to reach the top position. It will be interesting to see if the IP can hold its position and create some records while breaking others.

Rebel Moon 2 Rotten Tomatoes Score

However, while Rebel Moon 2 has certainly jumped to the top of the chart, the Rotten Tomatoes score tells a completely opposite story. As per the score, the movie has been badly reviewed, and it was at 46% the last time we checked. To give you a clear perspective, this is very low. To give you an even clearer example, this is the lowest-rated Zack Snyder movie on Rotten Tomatoes in 13 years. The lowest before this was 2011’s Sucker Punch, which has a 47% rating.

While there is hope that Rebel Moon - Part Two: The Scargiver might climb higher and may surpass Sucker Punch, it will still not be enough to call it a success story because it is the most expensive Netflix movie ever made, and that means anything basic is not enough to justify it.
