Many detectives will come and go but none will even come close to enjoying the frenzy that our Sherlock Holmes has enjoyed for years if not decades. Many of us met him through the books, and most of us were enthralled by his might and smartness when Robert Downey Jr decided to embody the part and take the world by storm. While fans have been waiting for the future of that franchise for a really long time, Amazon Prime Video has entered the ring and are now backing a show that will be based on the popular character. However, there is a twist in the tale as the studio has greenlit a Young Sherlock show at Prime Video and that means this is actually an original story for Holmes and it is indeed a part of the world that we have been wanting to explore for years now. 

Young Sherlock Greenlit At Prime Video

Turns out Amazon heard us and has given us an entire eight-part show about Young Sherlock with even the director finalized. If the latest announcement by the studio is to go by, Guy Ritchie, the man who has made a comfort space out of mysteries and thrillers has been hired to not just direct the show but also be the executive producer on the show. And to give you another surprise, the studio has even found a face for the show. Yes, you read that right. Read on to know everything you should about this craziest update of the day. 

As per the announcement, Hero Fiennes Tiffin of The Woman King fame has been cast to play Young Sherlock in the show with Matthew Parkhill serving as writer and showrunner on the series. The show will be based on Andy Pane's Young Sherlock book series. “In Young Sherlock, we’re going to see an exhilarating new version of the detective everyone thinks they know in a way they’ve never imagined before,” said Guy Ritchie. “We’re going to crack open this enigmatic character, find out what makes him tick, and learn how he becomes the genius we all love."

About Young Sherlock

The official synopsis reads, “With all the wit and charm of Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes features, Young Sherlock will be an irreverent, action-packed origin story of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s beloved detective in an explosive re-imagining of this iconic character. At age 19, Sherlock Holmes is disgraced, raw, unfiltered, and unformed, when he finds himself caught up in a murder mystery at Oxford University which threatens his freedom. Diving into his first-ever case with a wild lack of discipline, Sherlock manages to unravel a globe-trotting conspiracy that will change his life forever.”

As for the Young Sherlock star Hero Fiennes Tiffin he was last seen in Guy Ritchie's film The Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare and is about to be in the survival thriller Above The Below that also stars Idris Elba. He is also the lead in the romantic comedy Picture This for Prime Video. The rest of the cast is yet to be announced and we cannot wait for the fans of the book series to begin their fan-casting haul on the Internet.
