Sumeet Vyas, who has helmed the upcoming series Raat Jawan Hai, opened up on his project and some important details related to it. He pointed out how casting a lesser-known name often benefits series because otherwise, the focus is on the actor. Sumeet cited the example of Aamir Khan and Laal Singh Chaddha while talking about his series in a recent interview. Here's everything he said...

Sumeet Vyas on not casting A-listers for Raat Jawan Hai

Sumeet Vyas was sure that he did not want to cast any listers for his upcoming series, Raat Jawan Hai. That is because he believes that casting an A-lister takes away from the topic and becomes about the person. He told FilmiBeat in an interview, "In web series, you get this liberty that you don't have to run after a big star to get people's attention."

While citing an example of what he wanted to state, Sumeet shared how people looked at Aamir Khan playing Laal Singh Chaddha rather than the story of the film.

Famous web shows over the decade did not feature a big star

While citing more examples, Sumeet shared how the most popular web series did not have known faces. He spoke about 8 out of 10 shows that worked in the past decade without a big star (except Sacred Games and The Family Man). He named Panchayat, Gullak, Made In Heaven, and his own show, Permanent Roommates. The actor also added Mizrapur, stating that back when the show released, they were not movie stars per se and are now eventually popular even on that front. "The script was good. People liked it and related to it," he said, while hoping that his script for Raat Jawan Hai also connects with viewers.

Raat Jawan Hai features Barun Sobti and Priya Bapat in the lead roles. The slice-of-life series is scheduled to be released on SonyLIV (can be streamed via OTTplay Premium) on October 11.
