Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani Re-Release Box Office Collection Day 2: The past two years have illustrated the remarkable potential of nostalgia as a revenue-generating tool. Numerous cult classics have made their way back to Indian theaters, with their box office results reflecting a sustained interest among audiences. This year commenced with the re-launch of one of the most cherished youth films from the last decade—Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (YJHD)—which was directed by Ayan Mukerji and produced by Dharma Productions. This film, a delightful narrative about friends embarking on a life-changing vacation, has become a generational counterpart to Dil Chahta Hai. Consequently, its re-release this week has generated considerable excitement at the box office.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani Re-Release Box Office Update

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani made its return to theaters on January 3, 2025. The announcement had been eagerly awaited, and upon its release, fans rejoiced. Cinemas transformed into vibrant concert venues, with audiences pouring in, dancing to the film's memorable tracks and experiencing emotional moments during Bunny and Naina's poignant scenes. Consequently, the box office experienced a significant increase in revenue.

On the second day, the film garnered ₹2.40 crore, nearly doubling its ₹1.20 crore earnings from the first day, marking an impressive 100% increase. Given that its original release occurred over ten years ago, this performance is remarkable. The total earnings from the re-release have now reached ₹3.60 crore (nett).

Impressively, YJHD has also surpassed the collection of a new release, Baby John. While the Varun Dhawan starrer managed to collect only ₹80 lakh on its 11th day (Saturday), the Kapoor-Padukone re-release earned ₹2.40 crore on the same day at the domestic box office.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani Show Count Increased

The re-release of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani has sparked considerable enthusiasm, resulting in theaters increasing the number of showings. Initially set for 750 screenings on the first day, the overwhelming demand led to a substantial escalation, with around 1,600 shows scheduled for the second day. This remarkable achievement underscores the film's lasting appeal, even after a span of 12 years.

First released on May 31, 2013, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani earned approximately ₹188 crore (net) in India and ₹302 crore globally, against a reported budget of ₹40 crore. It will be intriguing to observe the new milestones the film may reach during its re-release.
