Yash Raj Films (YRF) and actor Arjun Kapoor recently celebrated the four-year anniversary of Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar by sharing a special poster on their Instagram stories. This black comedy-drama, directed by Dibakar Banerjee, was produced by YRF and finally released on March 19, 2021, after being delayed for a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Initially set for a 2020 release, the film eventually made its way to theaters and later became available for streaming on Amazon Prime.

Starring Parineeti Chopra and Arjun Kapoor in the lead roles, their powerful performances received a lot of acclaim. With a production budget of 20 crores, Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar managed to gross 58.125 lakhs worldwide, but it unfortunately didn’t do well at the box office. Nevertheless, the film garnered mixed-to-positive reviews, with critics praising its storyline, Chopra’s acting, Banerjee’s direction, and its insightful social commentary, although some pointed out its slow pacing as a drawback.

At the 67th Filmfare Awards, the film received 10 nominations, including Best Film (Critics), Best Actress for Parineeti Chopra, and Best Supporting Actress for Neena Gupta. The script also won the Best Dialogue award, highlighting the strong writing by Grover and Banerjee. While it may not have achieved box-office success, Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar remains memorable for its distinctive storytelling and powerful performances.
