Parvathy Baul started her journey as Mousumi Parial, who hailed from Coochbehar. Now she is known as one of the shining stars of folk music all over the world. This dream journey is undoubtedly inspirational. According to experts, Parvathy Baul is someone whose voice is the abode of god. Her journey started with a train coach and the song of a blind baul. Her life story will be shown in a documentary, produced by SVF and directed by Subhadeep Guha.

Once, teenager Mousumi Parial was travelling by train to Santiniketan to sit for an exam. She was touched by a blind baul's song and she thought that she was getting immersed in the melody. She did her course on visual arts from Visva Bharati and nurtured her love for baul songs. She also had training in Indian classical music and Kathak dance.

While in Santiniketan, she had a chance to get acquainted with the Bauls and sketched them. She came in contact with Fulmala Dasi, Sanatan Das Baul, and Shashanka Gosai. She spent years with the Bauls and learnt singing, and became Parvathy Baul. She said 'The journey from Mousumi to Pavathy baul is a story of upliftment.' Parvathy Baul could successfully spread songs all over the world. That story will now be seen on the YouTube channel of SVF Music. The documentary will be released on June 22, World Music Day.
