Wizards Beyond Waverly Place trailer: David Henrie takes on new challenges as Selena Gomez passes the torch

Disney released a new teaser for Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, the sequel to Wizards of Waverly Place. First shown in the teaser is Selena Gomez's rule-bending middle child, Alex Russo, and introduces Billie (Janice LeAnn Brown), the protagonist of the second series, to her new wizarding teacher, who happens to be Alex's older brother, Justin Russo (David Henrie). Justin resists his sister's demands.
Introduction of Billie and her new mentor, Justin Russo
As an adult, Justin decides to live a mortal life with his wife and two sons, and Wizards Beyond Waverly Place follows their journey. The logline states that upon Alex's arrival at his doorstep with Billie, he realises he must dust off his magical skills to mentor the wizard-in-training while also juggling his everyday responsibilities—and safeguarding the future of the Wizard World.
Alex, who remarkably resembles Alex from her earlier years, introduces Billie, the major character of the Disney show, in the teaser. Alex informs Justin before revealing a crucial detail—that the young wizard holds the key to the world’s destiny—that Billie is a powerful wizard, but she’s rebellious and stubborn.
Selena Gomez and David Henrie's limited appearances
Alex remarks in the trailer that, well, technically, the power is with them. Although Gomez and Henrie are both executive producers, their appearances are now limited to the pilot episode.
As Billie learns to become a wizard, Justin (Henrie) acts as a mentor, guiding her and even offering wise counsel regarding growing pains. He assures the young magician that making mistakes won't result in his expulsion from the family.
Original fans were able to witness Gomez and Henrie return to Waverly Place in the first peek at the sequel series last month, thanks to Disney.
The series' core cast also includes Alkaio Thiele, Mimi Gianopulos, Taylor Cora, and Max Matenko, in addition to Henrie and Brown.
Premiere date in India
Disney+ Hotstar subscribers in India will be able to watch the pilot episode and the first nine episodes on October 29, 2024.
