Sonakshi Sinha starred in a horror-comedy for the first time with the film Kakuda. The movie, which also stars Riteish Deshmukh and Saqib Saleem is directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, who is known for films like Munjya and Zombivali. Kakuda was released on ZEE5 on July 12 and the makers keep sharing new promos and posters from the film to keep the audience hooked to the film.

The new promo from the film has Sonakshi talking about her character Indira, who is an intelligent and informed woman who doesn't believe in ghosts. However, now that her husband, played by Saqib Saleem falls prey to Kakuda, she is on a mission with a ghost-hunter (Riteish Deshmukh) to find the reason behind Kakuda's hatred towards men.

Earlier, in an interview with Connected to India, Sonakshi Sinha talked about her character Indira in the film and revealed if she resonated with her. The actress said, "I’m actually a lot like Indira. I’ve recently got married, like Indira. She loves her husband a lot, like Indira. And she’s not superstitious at all.".
The story of Kakuda is about Indira's race against time to save her husband Sunny who fails to open the small door for Kakuda at 7.15 PM. Sunny is now facing Kakuda's wrath as he gets a hump on his back that will keep growing until his demise on the thirteenth day. With Sunny's life hanging by a thread, will Sonakshi's Indira be able to fight against the deadly ghost with the help of Riteish Deshmukh's ghost hunter? Watch the film and find out!
