I Am Kathalan is the second film from director Girish AD, featuring rising star Naslen K Gafoor, set to hit theaters in 2024 following the hit Premalu. While it didn't quite reach the same heights as Premalu, fans were eagerly anticipating its OTT release. Now, Manorama Max has announced that I Am Kathalan will be streaming on their platform starting next week.

I Am Kathalan, featuring Naslen as the main character, is set to hit Manorama Max for its highly anticipated OTT debut on January 17, 2025. This comedy techno-thriller, which hit theaters in November 2024, will also be accessible on OTTplay Premium. You can catch the film in its original Malayalam with English subtitles.

Manorama Max was introduced as the OTT platform, but there hasn't been any word on when the film will actually premiere online.

The storyline and cast of I Am Kathalan

Naslen plays Vishnu, a BTech grad struggling to land a job due to his backlogs. Things take a turn for the worse when his girlfriend Shilpa decides to break up with him. After a particularly embarrassing encounter with her dad, Vishnu turns to his hacking skills for revenge, setting his sights on the business where Shilpa is employed. The film also features notable performances from Dileesh Pothan, Lijomol Jose, and Anishma Anilkumar.

In I Am Kathalan, there's this 'expert' character who describes a hacker as someone in a hoodie, carrying a backpack, and sporting tattoos. Set in a quaint town in Kerala, Girish does a great job of shattering the typical Hollywood image of hackers that many millennials grew up seeing.

The plot is simple yet captivating, and the performances from the main cast really draw you into the story. Naslen, who’s quickly made a name for himself in the Malayalam film scene, nails the role of Vishnu, showcasing his struggles and thirst for revenge.

This film is another collaboration between Girish AD and Naslen, following their earlier project Premalu, which also featured Mamitha Baiju. That light-hearted rom-com was a hit with audiences, even beyond Kerala, when it dropped in February 2024. Rumor has it that a sequel might be in the works too.
