When The Phone Rings Finale Episode 12 Preview hints at a sad ending

Episode 11 of When The Phone Rings unveiled that Kyu-jin had murdered Jang-ho. She demanded an apology from him for the death of her son and for replacing him with his own child. Jang-ho responded by stating that he had spared her from the suffering her biological son would have faced had he survived. In a moment of remorse, Kyu-jin apologized and suffocated him with a pillow, resulting in his death. Spokesperson Sa-eon inquired about the whereabouts of Hee-joo. During the investigation, the police informed Sa-eon that Hee-joo had been located. Both Hee-Joo and the genuine Sa-eon were confined in Kyu-jin's hidden chambers. Mr. Kim had been instructed to eliminate Hee-Joo should anything happen to Kyu-jin, but he chose to release her while imprisoning the real Sa-eon.

Once freed, Hee-joo confronted her husband, Sa-eon, and they embraced. However, shortly thereafter, the authentic Sa-eon appeared. He whispered something to Spokesperson Sa-eon that brought him to tears. Subsequently, Hee-Joo was seen in distress, anxiously awaiting a call from her husband, who had vanished following the incident. After a period of waiting, she received a call from '604,' which bore a resemblance to her previous phone number '406' that she used to contact Sa-eon.

According to the preview of episode 12 of the aforementioned MBC Drama, Hong Hee-joo is depicted as crying uncontrollably. She reflects on their shared memories while holding a photograph of the two of them. The scene also illustrates her emotional breakdown in front of her sister, suggesting a potentially tragic conclusion. Nevertheless, the question remains whether the ending will indeed be sorrowful or if Sa-eon will return, leading to a joyful resolution. Additionally, the presence of the phone number '604' may imply a positive outcome, as it could belong to Yoo Yeon-seok's character, Sa-eon.

Meanwhile, finale episode 12 of When The Phone Rings will be released in a few hours today, January 4 on Netflix.
