Wednesday Season 2 BTS: Sneak peek at Jenna Ortega's ghoulish ride ahead

Thanks to her hectic schedule, Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) isn't going to make you cry just yet. However, she can offer you an inside look into Wednesday Season 2, which started filming in Ireland earlier this year. It looks like viewers are in for a scary journey in the new Geeked Week 2024 trailer. Unlike Wednesday, who would settle for anything less.

Tim Burton and returning cast members join Season 2

In addition to director and executive producer Tim Burton, the footage features cast members Emma Myers (Enid Sinclair), Joy Sunday (Bianca Barclay), Morticia Addams (Catherine Zeta-Jones), and Gomez Addams (Luis Guzmán). Zeta-Jones assures viewers in the clip that this season is going to be bigger and more twisted than one can ever imagine, as the Nevermore Academy set is bustling with excitement.

Miles Millar and Al Gough, who co-created the show with Zeta Jones, have similar sentiments. In January 2023, they informed Tudum that they were eagerly anticipating Nevermore's return for another season and delving into its kooky, spooky realm. First, let's make sure the pool isn't full, courtesy of Wednesday.

Wednesday's character evolution: Tough and uncompromising

So, where does the future hold for the beloved teen detective? Who will be joining Wednesday's upcoming excursions? As Wednesday Addams continues her studies at Nevermore Academy, the series will keep following her paranormal adventures. An announcement video for Wednesday's second season promised more "torture" in the upcoming season. Super Detective Wednesday, of course, wouldn't want it any other way.

In February 2023, Ortega informed Tudum that Wednesday sticks to her guns and isn't trying to please anyone. This is refreshing for the character, as she was previously adept at pleasing others.

Not only has Ortega grown to appreciate Wednesday's portrayal of the sole daughter of the Addams family, but so has everyone else. The show received twelve Primetime Emmy Award nominations in July 2023.

Creating a show that has resonated with people all over the globe has been a fantastic experience, Millar and Gough remarked in January. They are elated to pick up where Wednesday left off in Season 2.

Jenna Ortega returns as producer and lead in Season 2

In Wednesday Season 2, Ortega will produce and star as an outcast who doubles as a detective and mystery writer. With Ortega, returning cast members include Emma Myers (Enid Sinclair), Joy Sunday (Bianca Barclay), Moosa Mostafa (Eugene), Georgie Farmer (Ajax), and Victor Dorobantu (Thing).

Regulars on the show include Luis Guzmán (Gomez Addams), Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo (Deputy Ritchie Santiago), Isaac Ordonez (Pugsley Addams) and Catherine Zeta-Jones (Morticia Addams). In addition, Fred Armisen (Uncle Fester) and Jamie McShane (Sheriff Donovan Galpin) will make cameo appearances. Season 2 of Wednesday brings a host of new regulars to the show, including Steve Buscemi, Billie Piper, Evie Templeton, Owen Painter, and Noah Taylor. The following actors will be making special appearances: Christopher Lloyd, Joanna Lumley, Thandiwe Newton, Frances O’Connor, Haley Joel Osment, Heather Matarazzo, and Joonas Suotamo.

As Millar and Gough informed Tudum in May 2024, their goal this season was to discover some fresh faces as well as invite some acting legends they have always admired to join Jenna and the gang at Nevermore. However, they did not stop there. They are excited about the talented team they assembled.

Episode 1 titled "Here We Woe Again"

A video reveals the title of Wednesday's Season 2 premiere, "Here We Woe Again." Gough and Millar wrote the episode, which Tim Burton directed.

In picturesque Ireland, filming has begun for the mystery show.

Season 2 will see Burton returning to his roles as director and executive producer, creating the spooky Wednesday universe. Among the other directors are Paco Cabezas and Angela Robinson. Gough and Millar, who also create and run the show, executive produce Wednesday. Other EPs include Steve Stark, Andrew Mittman, Tommy Harper, Karen Richards, Jonathan Glickman, Gail Berman, and Meredith Averill. Wednesday is produced by MGM Television.

Season 1's supernatural mystery sets up Season 2

The Wednesday series in English on Netflix has garnered the highest number of viewers due to its perfect blend of surprises. Season 1 had 252.10 million views, spent 20 weeks in the Global Top 10, and was among the top ten in 93 countries. After enrolling at Nevermore Academy, Wednesday becomes entangled in a supernatural plot in Season 1. As Season 1 comes to a close, Wednesday is prepared to face her share of enemies in Season 2.

According to Millar, both Wednesday and the school are still vulnerable. Everything isn't as neatly tied up as she thinks it is. Wednesday isn't always the most cheerful one, but the prospect of a fresh, terrifying case can make even her crack the slightest smile.
