Detective Ujjwalan, featuring Dhyan Sreenivasan in the principal role, has generated considerable excitement since its announcement. The production team has now unveiled the first look of Detective Ujjwalan, which is directed by Indraneel Gopeekrishnan and Rahul G, both of whom are making their directorial debut with this film. The first look poster indicates a release window set for May 2025.

The initial poster for Detective Ujjwalan was shared on social media on January 19, 2025, by the creators. It showcases Dhyan Sreenivasan, who appears with a puzzled expression while riding a red-and-white scooter. The backdrop features characters dressed in traditional attire typical of small towns or villages in the southern region of India, suggesting that the narrative unfolds in rural Kerala. Additionally, a large masked figure looms in the background, contributing an element of intrigue to the poster. The film is described as a comedic investigative thriller.

In the accompanying caption, the producers stated, “The case that will change everything, Ujjwalan’s greatest mystery awaits. A puzzle so complex, a truth so hidden. Get ready for a wacky ride of twists and turns. Welcome to the wonderfully weird world of Detective Ujjwalan, where nothing is as it seems!”

In terms of casting, Dhyan Sreenivasan takes on the role of the local detective Ujjwalan, while Siju Wilson portrays CI Shambu Mahadev. Other significant roles are filled by Kottayam Nazeer, Seema G Nair, Rony David, Ameen Nihaal Nizam, Kalabhavan Navas, Nirmal Palazhy, and Josy Sijo, along with Nibraz Noushad and Shahubas.

The film is produced by Sophia Paul under the Weekend Blockbusters banner, which previously supported the 2021 film Minnal Murali starring Tovino Thomas. Weekend Blockbusters is also working on a zombie film titled Jambi.

Detective Ujjwalan is expected to be released in May 2025, although the exact date has yet to be confirmed by the producers.
