Vishwambhara Release in Trouble – Two Big Reasons Behind Delay
1 month ago | 5 Views
Vishwambhara is among the most anticipated films featuring Chiranjeevi and is scheduled for release in 2025. Originally, the fantasy drama was set to premiere on January 10, 2025, coinciding with the Sankranthi festival. However, Chiranjeevi opted to withdraw from this date to allow for the release of his son Ram Charan’s Game Changer, which is slated for the same day.
Vishwambhara Struggles for a Release Date
Vishwambhara is currently facing challenges in securing a release date. It was previously reported that the film would be rescheduled for May 9, 2025, with Chiranjeevi confirming this new date. Nevertheless, recent updates indicate that the film continues to encounter delays and may not adhere to this timeline. A source affiliated with the production team has identified two main factors contributing to this postponement.
Firstly, the visual effects work is still incomplete. The production team has contracted multiple companies for the graphics, and the post-production phase is ongoing. Secondly, no streaming service has yet acquired the film’s digital distribution rights. Although both Amazon Prime Video and Netflix expressed interest in obtaining these rights, discussions have stalled due to the makers' insistence on a higher price.
Vishwambhara faces OTT deal issues
Recently, OTT platforms have adopted a more prudent approach regarding substantial investments in high-budget films starring prominent actors such as Chiranjeevi, as his films generally achieve greater success in theaters compared to streaming services.
Discussions concerning digital rights are still in progress, and it is yet to be determined which platform will acquire the film. A comparable scenario unfolded with Chiranjeevi's earlier project, Bholaa Shankar, where Netflix exhibited reluctance before ultimately acquiring the streaming rights. In light of Bholaa Shankar's lackluster performance at the box office, streaming platforms are now increasingly cautious about making significant investments in Chiranjeevi’s projects.

Vishwambhara is being produced with a substantial budget, and the producers are eager to secure a robust OTT agreement to ensure financial security prior to its theatrical debut. Nevertheless, delays in post-production and ongoing negotiations regarding the OTT platform have resulted in additional postponements.
The film, directed by Vassishta, features Trisha Krishnan in the leading female role, with music composed by MM Keeravani. Meanwhile, Chiranjeevi is preparing to collaborate with Anil Ravipudi on a comedic project. Anil's previous work, Sankranthiki Vasthunnam, has gained significant popularity on Zee 5 and OTTplay Premium since its release. Stay tuned for further updates on this highly anticipated film.
