Vishnu Manchu's highly anticipated mythological film, Kannappa, has a new release date. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared that the film's team made the announcement during a special meeting with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

On Wednesday, Taran Adarsh posted on X (formerly Twitter) to inform everyone that Kannappa, which was originally set to debut on April 25, has been delayed. He stated, “VISHNU MANCHU’S PAN-INDIA FILM ‘KANNAPPA’ HAS A NEW RELEASE DATE: 27 JUNE 2025… Save the date… #Kannappa – the epic action drama – will now hit theaters on 27 June 2025. The new date was officially revealed during a meeting with #UttarPradesh Chief Minister #YogiAdityanath ji. #Kannappa features #VishnuManchu, along with notable performances by #Mohanlal, #Prabhas, #AkshayKumar, and #KajalAggarwal. It will be available in #Telugu, #Malayalam, #Tamil, #Kannada, and #Hindi. Directed by #MukeshKumarSingh and produced by #MMohanBabu. #KannappaMovie.”

Prabhu Deva, Vishnu Manchu, Mohan Babu, and Vinay Maheshwar recently visited Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at his office in Lucknow to promote their upcoming film. During their meeting, CM Adityanath signed the poster for Kannapaa and wished the team all the best for the film's success. The Kannappa crew presented the CM with a beautiful glass painting and other gifts before taking some group photos together.

He posted on X, “Dear fans, well-wishers, and movie enthusiasts, bringing #KANNAPPA to life has been an amazing journey, and we are dedicated to creating a cinematic experience that meets the highest standards. To achieve this, we need a few more weeks to refine a crucial scene that requires extensive VFX work. As a result, the film's release will be postponed.”

“We truly apologize for the delay and understand how eagerly everyone is waiting for this film. Your patience and support mean the world to us. Kannappa is a tribute to Lord Shiva's most devoted follower, and we want to present it in the best way possible. Our team is working hard, and we promise it will be worth the wait. We’ll provide an update and the new release date soon,” he added.

Here's a look at Kannappa

This mythological drama in Telugu draws inspiration from the story of Bhakta Kannappa, a dedicated devotee of Lord Shiva. Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh and produced by Mohan Babu, the film stars Vishnu Manchu as the lead character, with Mohanlal and Prabhas in key roles. Akshay Kumar will take on the role of Lord Shiva, while Kajal Aggarwal will portray Goddess Parvati. The trailer for the film was showcased at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival and is scheduled to hit theaters on June 27, 2025.
