Thangalaan, the Tamil film featuring Vikram in the principal role, is now accessible for streaming on Netflix following a prolonged anticipation. Written and directed by Pa Ranjith, the film premiered in theaters on August 15. After several months, Thangalaan is now available for streaming in various languages.

Thangalaan out on OTT: Vikram and Pa Ranjith film makes streaming debut

Netflix has previously acquired the post-theatrical streaming rights for the Tamil film Thangalaan. The film premiered in theaters on August 15 and received a favorable response. However, its release on the OTT platform was significantly delayed. Now, approximately three months after its theatrical debut, Thangalaan is available for streaming on Netflix. It can be viewed in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.

Directed by Pa Ranjith, Thangalaan is a period action drama featuring Vikram in the lead role, supported by a cast that includes Parvathy Thiruvothu, Malavika Mohanan, Pasupathy, Daniel Caltagirone, among others. The narrative centers on a group of tribal individuals who are tasked by British officers with the search for gold in KGF.

Similar to Pa Ranjith’s earlier works, this film highlights the genuine experiences of marginalized communities from past centuries and their struggle for justice, as they navigate the challenges posed by oppression while being employed by colonizers in their quest for gold in the region.

The team of Thangalaan

The film is produced by Gnanavel Raja under the Studio Green label. This project marks the inaugural collaboration between Vikram and Pa Ranjith, who co-wrote the screenplay alongside Tamil Praba, with dialogues crafted by Azhagiya Periyavan. The technical team for Thangalaan includes music composed by GV Prakash Kumar, while cinematography is managed by Kishore Kumar. The editing is handled by RK Selva.

Upon its release, Thangalaan garnered favorable reviews from both critics and audiences alike, with Vikram's performance receiving significant acclaim. The film, characterized by its intense action scenes and emotional depth, offers a compelling narrative of the unknown. It is currently available for streaming on Netflix in four different languages.
