Kalapatthar, created by filmmaker D Satya Prakash, known for Rama Rama fame, brought together Vikky and Dhanya Ramkumar, while the ensemble cast also featured TS Nagabharana, Achyuth Kumar, Sampath Maithreya, Rajesh Nataranga, Galli Nata, Basu Hiremath, Kanthraj Kaddipudi, among others. Produced by Bhuvan Suresh and Nagaraju Billinakote, Kalapatthar included music composed by Anoop Seelin, and Sandeep Kumar was responsible for the cinematography.

Interestingly, Vikky Varun was not the initial selection for actor or director and had initially been associated with a different cast and crew. However, when the pandemic emerged, everything shifted, and subsequently, Vikky, who has worked with filmmakers like Yogaraj Bhat and Duniya Suri, joined the project. The film was primarily filmed in Bijapur, with some scenes located in Kashmir and Rajasthan.

Kalapatthar centers around Shankara (Vikky), a soldier assigned to kitchen tasks at his barracks. Shankara envisions his significant moment contributing to the nation, which arrives when he single-handedly prevents a terrorist infiltration while his fellow soldiers are preoccupied with Kargil Divas celebrations. Shankara’s courageous act receives recognition, leading him from the kitchen to the battlefield, while in his village, plans are made to honor him with a statue.

However, this is when difficulties arise for Shankara; he starts to experience the elements as his statue does. From enduring the scorching sun while stationed in chilly Kashmir to getting soaked when it rains back home, Vikky has an unexplainable bond with his stone likeness. So intensely that when it's decided to remove it, he battles fiercely to save it, at significant personal expense.
