Jana Nayagan, the highly anticipated Tamil film featuring actor Vijay in the leading role, is generating significant excitement among fans. The film's release date has been moved from October 2025 to January 2026. In recent developments, the OTT rights have been sold for a substantial amount. Prime Video has acquired the post-theatrical streaming rights, and this film is expected to mark Vijay's final cinematic endeavor before he embarks on a full-time political career.

Jana Nayagan OTT rights sold for huge sum

Vijay, affectionately referred to as Thalapathy by his supporters, has revealed his 69th film in collaboration with director H Vinoth. The movie, titled Jana Nayagan, is anticipated to be Vijay's last cinematic endeavor before he embarks on a comprehensive political career.

According to recent reports, Prime Video has acquired the post-theatrical streaming rights for Jana Nayagan at a substantial price. Despite claims of a downturn in the OTT market and streaming services being selective about their acquisitions, Jana Nayagan was secured for an impressive sum of Rs 121 crore, largely due to the star power of Vijay. The Hindi version of the film is set to be available for streaming eight weeks following its release in theaters and multiplexes in the northern region.

Directed by filmmaker H Vinoth and produced by KVN Productions, Jana Nayagan is scheduled for release during Pongal next year, just a few months ahead of the 2026 elections. The film features Pooja Hegde as the female lead, representing her second partnership with Vijay following their work in the action drama Beast.

In addition to Hegde, the cast includes Mamitha Baiju, Bobby Deol, Prakash Raj, Priyamani, and others. The music for Jana Nayagan is composed by Anirudh Ravichander. The film is creating considerable excitement among fans who are eager to see Vijay's portrayal of a political figure. Cinematography is handled by Sathyan Sooryan ISC, while Anl Arasu serves as the action coordinator. This project also marks Vinoth’s inaugural collaboration with Vijay.
