Biographical films are relatively uncommon in Kannada cinema, and announcing a film centred on the life of a notable transport and media magnate, is particularly intriguing. This film focuses on Vijay Sankeshwar, a self-made businessman who began his transport venture with a single truck and expanded it into a vast fleet, providing services for both goods and passenger transport. In addition to his success in transportation, Sankeshwar ventured into publishing, establishing the Kannada newspaper Vijay Karnataka, which achieved market leadership, as well as an English daily, both of which he later sold.

The subject matter had the potential to be captivating; however, the film ultimately emerged as a self-indulgent endeavour for the producers, particularly with the involvement of Sankeshwar and his son Anand. Directed by Rishika Sharma, the film featured Nihal Rajput portraying a young Sankeshwar, alongside a cast that included Anant Nag, V Ravichandran, Prakash Belawadi, Shine Shetty, and Bharath Bopanna, among others. Although it premiered in theatres in December 2022, there were persistent rumours regarding its release on Amazon Prime Video, yet no indication of this has materialized to date.

Vijayanand headed to Namma Flix

It has recently come to light that the film will be available on a different platform. Namma Flix, the Kannada OTT service, has acquired the streaming rights for Vijayanand and will release the film on February 14, 2025. The screenplay, authored by Rishika, is based on extensive interviews with Sankeshwar, and the film aims to portray him as a legendary figure, emphasizing that his business is founded on principles of integrity.

The team asserted that the film aimed to inspire audiences; however, the narrative did not convey that sentiment. In a discussion with OTTplay, Rishika was questioned about the feasibility of providing an objective and accurate portrayal of the business tycoon's life, to which she affirmed it was achievable. Nevertheless, the final product does not seem to embody this intention.
