On the occasion of Ugadi, fans received an exciting announcement from filmmaker Puri Jagannadh regarding a new film featuring Vijay Sethupathi. This project is set to be a pan-India film, with a multi-language release in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi.

In his most recent update on X, Puri revealed an exciting new collaboration, sharing a photo featuring Vijay and producer Charmme.

In the caption, he provided insights about the film, including the shooting schedule and additional information, stating, “On this auspicious occasion of #Ugadi ✨ I am thrilled to announce an exhilarating new venture featuring the remarkable collaboration between the dynamic director #PuriJagannadh and the talented performer, Makkalselvan @VijaySethuOffl, working together on a MASTERPIECE IN ALL INDIAN LANGUAGES ❤️‍ Produced by Puri Jagannadh and @Charmmeofficial under @puriconnects, filming is set to commence this JUNE. Stay tuned for #PuriSethupathi as we will be sharing EXCITING UPDATES soon.”

His last projects

In 2024, Vijay appeared in three films. He kicked off the year with Sriram Raghavan’s Merry Christmas, which was also filmed in Hindi and featured Katrina Kaif. The narrative centers on a seemingly ordinary Christmas Eve that dramatically alters the lives of two individuals. As two strangers cross paths, a romance develops, leading the story in an unforeseen direction.

His milestone 50th film, Maharaja, directed by Nithilan Saminathan and featuring Anurag Kashyap, was released last year and achieved remarkable success at the box office. The film premiered in Chinese theaters in November and also garnered significant acclaim there.

He concluded the year with Vetrimaaran’s Viduthalai Part 2, co-starring Manju Warrier. In this sequel, after being captured, Perumal begins to narrate his life story to the officers escorting him, revealing his journey from a principled school teacher to a revolutionary leader.
