Viduthalai Part 2, the period action drama directed by Vetrimaaran, premiered in theatres on Friday, December 20, and has garnered approximately Rs 7 crore (nett) in India on its opening day across all languages. Besides Tamil, the film was also released in Telugu under the title Viduthala: Part 2.

Viduthalai: Part 2 serves as the continuation of Vetrimaaran's 2023 film, Viduthalai: Part 1. This period action drama features a talented ensemble cast, including Soori, Vijay Sethupathi, Manju Warrier, and others. The sequel premiered in theatres on December 20, a Friday, and on its opening day, it garnered an impressive collection of Rs 7 crore across Tamil and Telugu markets in India. According to a report from Sacnilk, the film achieved an occupancy rate of 38.5%. It is anticipated that both occupancy and box office collections will rise over the weekend.

The narrative of Viduthalai: Part 2 picks up from the conclusion of the first instalment. Following the capture of the leader of the people's movement, Vaathiyar, portrayed by Vijay Sethupathi, he begins recounting his story to the police, including an understanding constable named Kumaresan, played by Soori.

Viduthalai: Part 2's streaming rights have been acquired by ZEE5 and will also be accessible on the OTTplay Premium app. The first instalment of the film is currently available for viewing on ZEE5. The sequel is anticipated to premiere on OTT platforms in January 2025, following the conclusion of its theatrical release. In the meantime, viewers can enjoy the first part of the film this weekend on ZEE5.

The Viduthalai duology, produced by RS Infotainment, features music composed by Ilaiyaraaja. This project marks Soori's debut in a leading role. The cinematography is handled by R. Velraj, with editing by R Ramar and art direction by Jacki.
