Director Vetrimaaran's highly anticipated sequel, Viduthalai: Part 2, has commenced streaming in Hindi on ZEE5 and OTTplay Premium. This compelling period action drama features Vijay Sethupathi, Soori, and Manju Warrier. The narrative centers around a novice police officer, Kumaresan (Soori), who is tasked with apprehending the leader of a people's movement, Vaathiyar/Perumal (Vijay Sethupathi), as the story reveals the long-standing systemic oppression within society.
Manju Warrier, who joined the cast for this installment, previously collaborated with Vetrimaaran in Asuran. In Viduthalai: Part 2, she portrays Mahalakshmi, the love interest of Vaathiyar, a character hailing from a privileged background yet advocating for the marginalized. Vetrimaaran, known for his strong political themes in cinema, has crafted Mahalakshmi's character with a similar depth and complexity.
Manju Warrier on Viduthalai Part 2: Observing the strength of women who have lived through injustice and oppression helped me

In discussing the real-life inspirations and references that enabled her to connect more profoundly with Mahalakshmi, Manju states, “Viduthalai Part 2 is fundamentally anchored in genuine struggles and power dynamics, and I aimed to infuse authenticity into my character. I explored actual events and narratives of resilience from individuals who have faced similar socio-political challenges. Witnessing the fortitude of women who have endured injustice and oppression significantly influenced the emotional complexity of my character. Their bravery, quiet strength, and capacity to persevere motivated my performance.”
Similar to Asuran, Viduthalai: Part 2 is a powerful drama that addresses political themes quite openly. Manju Warrier emphasizes the necessity of mentally detaching after performing emotionally intense scenes. To unwind, she often turns to music or reads material unrelated to the film's subject matter. “Music, in particular, assists me in shifting my emotions and finding relaxation after a demanding day on set. Additionally, spending time with the crew and enjoying light-hearted interactions helped alleviate the emotional burden of the character.”
‘Vijay Sethupathi is one of the most effortless actors’
In Viduthalai: Part 2, Manju had the opportunity to collaborate with Vijay Sethupathi for the first time. She describes him as "one of the most effortless actors" she has encountered, noting that his authenticity in every scene allows her to fully engage in the moment alongside him. Additionally, she expresses admiration for his talent in conveying emotions with nuance.
In discussing Soori, Manju expresses admiration for his remarkable transformation into the character of Kumaresan. "His dedication and effort were evident in every scene. There was a particular moment when his performance rendered everyone on set speechless; it was so impactful that even after the director said 'cut,' we remained entranced by that moment," Manju reflects.
Additionally, Manju notes that the atmosphere on set was exceptional. Despite the film's serious subject matter, the cast shared moments of joy and camaraderie that enhanced the overall experience.
