Vidaamuyarchi box office collection on day two: The film Vidaamuyarchi, featuring Ajith Kumar and Trisha Krishnan and directed by Magizh Thirumeni, premiered in theatres on Thursday and performed admirably on its first day. As reported by Sacnilk, the movie garnered approximately ₹32.12 crore net in India on its second day, experiencing a significant decline in its earnings.

The website indicates that the film garnered a net collection of ₹26 crore on its opening day, with ₹25.5 crore coming from Tamil and ₹0.5 crore from the Telugu version (released as Pattudala). In comparison, Ajith’s prior film, Thunivu, which was released in 2023, achieved a net collection of ₹24.4 crore in India on its opening day. However, it experienced a significant decline in earnings on the second day, accumulating approximately ₹6.12 crore net in India, resulting in a total of ₹32.12 crore net. The film recorded an occupancy rate of 21.48% for the morning shows, 31.44% for the afternoon, and 37.25% for the evening.

Director Vignesh Shivan expressed high regard for Vidaamuyarchi in his film review. He specifically highlighted Ajith’s performance, stating, “#vidaamuyarchi is an exceptionally gripping thriller! It engages the audience like piecing together a puzzle from the very first frame to the last! AK sir’s commanding presence and charm carry the film on his shoulders! From the authentically perilous action to the emotional depth of the final scene, he portrays the character with remarkable sincerity! His authenticity is undeniable, and one cannot help but cheer every time he appears, accompanied by the captivating score from the talented @anirudhofficial! (sic)”

Vidaamuyarchi, inspired by the 1997 American film Breakdown, narrates the tale of a man embarking on a rescue mission following the abduction of his wife by a notorious group in Azerbaijan. According to a review by the Hindustan Times, “Initially, Vidaamuyarchi does not feature a star-centric approach. It lacks the dramatic flair typical of commercial films that often showcase Ajith Kumar. Instead, this film diverges from that norm, focusing on the narrative of an everyday man deeply in love with his wife and determined to rescue her.”
