Chhaava's box office performance is still going strong in its fifth week, thanks to Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna's captivating period drama. The film has hit some major milestones, even outpacing the total earnings of Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan and Ranbir Kapoor's Animal.

Chhaava's earnings at the box office

Sacnilk reports that on Day 31, which was also its fifth Sunday, the film raked in ₹8 crore at the box office. Out of that, ₹7.25 crore came from Hindi, while ₹0.75 crore was from Telugu. This brings the total earnings to ₹562.65 crore, with ₹548.7 crore from Hindi and ₹13.95 crore from Telugu. Chhaava hit theaters on February 14.

In a significant achievement, Chhaava has now outdone the domestic box office earnings of Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s 2023 hit, Animal, featuring Ranbir Kapoor, which made ₹553.87 crore during its theatrical run. Despite receiving mixed reviews, Animal was released in five languages: Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam.

As Chhaava keeps making waves at the box office, it has also surpassed the domestic earnings of Siddharth Anand’s spy thriller Pathaan, starring Shah Rukh Khan, which grossed ₹543.09 crore during its time in theaters.

Here's a little bit about Chhaava

Chhaava is inspired by Shivaji Sawant's Marathi novel of the same name. Directed by Laxman Utekar, this biopic tells the story of Maratha king Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, with Vicky in the lead role. The cast also includes Akshaye Khanna as Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb, along with Rashmika Mandanna, Divya Dutta, and Diana Penty in supporting roles.

Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave a shout-out to the film during his speech at the 98th Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan held at Vigyan Bhavan in Delhi. He remarked, “Ye Maharashtra aur Mumbai hi hai jisne Marathi filmo ke saath saath, Hindi cinema ko ye unchai di hai. Aur in dino toh, Chhaava ki dhoom machi hui hai.” (Maharashtra and Mumbai have elevated Hindi cinema along with Marathi films. And these days, Chhaava is making waves).
