The nation is currently celebrating one of the year's most successful cinematic releases, Chhaava, featuring Vicky Kaushal in the lead role. Directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Pictures, the film portrays Vicky Kaushal as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, with Rashmika Mandanna and Akshaye Khanna also in prominent roles. The film has resonated deeply with audiences, establishing itself as one of the most cherished films of the year. As viewers continue to fill theaters, it has been announced that Chhaava will be exempt from taxes in Madhya Pradesh. Following this, Goa has also declared the film tax-free within its borders.

Chhaava Announced Tax-Free in Goa

Goa’s Chief Minister, Pramod Sawant, announced the news via his official X (formerly Twitter) account, commending Vicky Kaushal and the film while confirming its tax-free status in the state. "जय छत्रपती संभाजी महाराज! I am delighted to announce that the film Chhaava, which depicts the life and sacrifices of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, will be tax-free in Goa," he stated.

He further remarked, "This film, which showcases the bravery and valor of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj in his struggle for Dev, Desh, and Dharma, as portrayed by Vicky Kaushal, brings a significant chapter of history to the forefront. The sacrifices made by the second Chhatrapati of Hindavi Swarajya, who fought valiantly against the Mughals and the Portuguese, serve as an inspiration for all. देश धरम पर मिटने वाला। शेर शिवा का छाया था।। महापराक्रमी परम प्रतापी। एक ही शंभू राजा था।।”

Chhaava Box Office So Far

Directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Dinesh Vijan under the banner of Maddock Pictures, Chhaava is inspired by the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the second Chhatrapati of the Maratha Empire, who reigned from 1681 to 1689. The film, which is presented on a grand scale, also features Rashmika Mandanna in the role of Yesubai Bhonsale.

As reported by Sacnilk, on its sixth day of release, Chhaava exceeded its initial Day 1 collection of ₹31 crore by generating around ₹32 crore. This achievement elevates the film's total earnings to over ₹200 crore, positioning it as one of the most significant blockbusters in the post-pandemic era. With the film nearing the end of its first week in theaters, a continuation of this box office trend may lead to the establishment of new records.
