Gully Boy, directed by Zoya Akhtar, features a talented cast including Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Kalki Koechlin, and Vijay Varma. This 2019 film tells the story of a young guy from Mumbai who finds his love for rap music. It was well-received by both fans and critics alike. Recently, there's buzz about a sequel in the works, with Vicky Kaushal and Ananya Panday reportedly in discussions for it.

Could Vicky Kaushal and Ananya Panday be in the sequel to Gully Boy?

Filmfare shared that the producers are in discussions with Vicky Kaushal and Ananya Panday to join the cast of the Gully Boy sequel.

Arjun Varain Singh, who directed Kho Gaye Hum Kahan for Excel and Tiger Baby, is set to helm the Gully Boy follow-up. He believes Ananya, who starred alongside him in Kho Gaye, would be the ideal choice to take the lead. Vicky has been linked to the sequel for quite a while. It’ll be interesting to see if these three talents can come together to capture the same magic as Gully Boy did.

Are Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt going to take on their roles again?

When it comes to Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, and Siddhant Chaturvedi coming back for the sequel, the insider mentioned that it seems pretty unlikely. They also pointed out that if Gully Boy 2 does well, there could be a chance for a third movie, where we might see the gang back together. However, the source cautioned, "Let’s not jump the gun. That’s a possibility that’s still pretty up in the air."

Here's some extra info on Gully Boy

Ranveer Singh took on the role of Murad, a rapper trying to make it big, while Alia Bhatt portrayed his fiery love interest, Safeena. Siddhant Chaturvedi played Sher, Murad's mentor in the rap scene, and Kalki Koechlin was Sky, a record producer who connects with both Murad and Sher.

The story follows Murad, a college student from the Dharavi slums in Mumbai, as he uncovers his love for rap music. His parents had dreams of him landing a stable office job, but Murad realized his true calling was in rap. He teamed up with a local rapper who introduced him to the underground performance scene and rap battles. His lyrics were fueled by the discrimination he faced while working as a driver.

By the way, Gully Boy is currently available for streaming on Prime Video.
