In remembrance of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj's death anniversary, Vicky Kaushal expressed his admiration for the Maratha warrior. Accompanying a still from Chhaava, he wrote, "11th March 1689- शंभु राजे बलिदान दिवस। Today, on the Punyatithi of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, I pay homage to the warrior who chose death over surrender, who stood resolute against unimaginable suffering, and who lived and died for his convictions (sic)." Vicky also reflected on the significance of portraying Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj in Chhaava. "Some roles remain with you for a lifetime, and embodying Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj in Chhaava has been one of those experiences. His narrative transcends mere history; it embodies courage, sacrifice, and an indomitable spirit that continues to inspire millions. Zinda Rahey! जय भवानी, जय शिवाजी! जय संभाजी! (sic)," he remarked.
In Laxman Utekar's Chhaava, Rashmika Mandanna portrayed Maharani Yesubai, while Akshaye Khanna took on the role of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. The supporting cast included Diana Penty, Ashutosh Rana, Neil Bhoopalam, and Divya Dutta. Produced by Maddock Films, Chhaava has achieved a remarkable gross of over Rs 700 crore at the global box office.
