Vettaiyan director TJ Gnanavel wants to make a prequel to Rajinikanth's film
During a media interaction over Zoom, filmmaker TJ Gnanavel expressed his wish to explore the backstories of key characters, particularly focusing on Athiyan, played by Rajinikanth.
"I'm more interested in developing a prequel that could dive deeper into Athiyan's journey," he stated while hinting at the complexities and moral dilemmas faced by such a character.
"Encounter killings have always affected me when I read about them in the news," he explained. "This film challenges whether these encounters are justified or fabricated, revealing what seems straightforward often has deeper issues."
One of the experts of OTTPlay reviewed the film and stated, "Gnanavel, with his right intentions, makes a Rajinikanth film that doubles up as both fan service and moral compass. But somewhere, it fumbles under the weight it carries and misses the target by many miles."
Meanwhile, Vettaiyan received mixed reviews from the audience and did not perform well at the box office.
